The Albino Widow Tetra, a variant of the Black Widow Tetra, is a small, peaceful freshwater fish known for its pale, translucent body with hints of pink and its active schooling behaviour. Its gentle temperament makes it a great addition to community tanks.
General Care
Albino Widow Tetras thrive in a well-maintained aquarium with plenty of open swimming space and areas with plants, rocks, or driftwood to create hiding spots and mimic their natural habitat. They are active schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least six to reduce stress and encourage natural behaviour. These tetras are hardy and adaptable, but regular maintenance, including 20–30% water changes weekly, is essential for their health and well-being. A calm environment with subdued lighting will help enhance their delicate colours.
Food
Albino Widow Tetras are omnivores and enjoy a varied diet. Their primary food source can include high-quality flakes or micro pellets, supplemented with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. They may also enjoy finely chopped blanched vegetables like spinach or zucchini on occasion. Feed them daily, ensuring they consume all food within a few minutes to avoid waste and maintain water quality.
Additional Information
Albino Widow Tetras are peaceful and ideal for community tanks with other small, non-aggressive species such as rasboras, guppies, or other tetras. Avoid keeping them with aggressive or fin-nipping fish that might stress or harm them. Their social and lively nature, combined with their unique albino colouring, makes them a visually appealing and engaging choice for aquarists looking for active schooling fish.
